Rebuilding a greener Arlen Hill: Low traffic neighbourhoods (with Geo Select and Publishable Replies)

This is an example activity for demonstration purposes only. This site is operated by Delib Ltd and submitted responses will be discarded. Neighbourhood traffic is one of the largest contributors to air pollution; it is estimated that approximately 45% of traffic within neighbourhood areas passes without stopping. We want to transform Arlen Hill into a healthier and safer place to live by reducing the amount of through traffic passing through our neighbourhoods. Not only will this help...

Closed Activities

Here you can find some of the now closed activities that we have run over the last year. Take a look to find out more about them and see what we have done since you responded.

Proposal to Implement a Low Emission Zone (with Geo Select and Publishable Replies)

This is an example activity for demonstration purposes only. This site is operated by Delib Ltd and submitted responses will be discarded. Nitrogen dioxide is a brown gas, with the chemical formula NO 2 . It is chemically related to nitric oxide (nitrogen monoxide), a colourless gas with the chemical formula NO. NO 2 is released into the atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels (i.e., coal, gas etc.). We have collected air pollution data around Edinburgh and mapped it out to...

Climate Emergency Strategy - Stage 1

This is an example activity to demonstrate how "We Asked, You Said, We Did" will look when an activity is closed.

We Asked, You Said, We Did

Here are some of the issues we have consulted on and their outcomes.

We asked

The effect that climate change is having on society and our surrounding environment is becoming increasingly more apparent. Our lifestyle choices and habits will need to be changed in order to adapt to this changing climate. For example, reducing our energy consumption - which will provide many benefits to both our natural environment and to ourselves.

Arlen Hill Council asked you what challenges you are currently facing in day to day life while adapting to a changing climate, and what you suggest we can do as a council to help tackle the issue and become a more resilient city.

You said

We recieved a wide range of comments and feedback throughout the course of this consultation from both online and in-person events. Some of the main points put forward were:

  • TRANSPORT: A need for better transport infrastructure such as segregated cycle lanes; extension of bus routes and increased frquency of buses to more rural areas and the introduction of an electric vehicle scheme, such as e-scooters and e-bikes.
  • SUPPORT: More support needed from the council to transition citizens and businesses to a more eco-friendly and climate-aware lifestyle.
  • WASTE: Reduction in plastic use within supermarkets, an increased frequency of bin removal, and better organisation of the recycling centre so it's easier to use.

We did

We will present these results to the council in March 2023. We will publish all results and analysis in our Climate Emergency Action Plan which can be found on our website.
